October 8th through 9th is Amazon Prime Day, and as such there will be lots of wonderful items on sale. I'll specifically be on the lookout for my favorite supplements and tools for anxiety relief. Dealing with an anxiety disorder since 2019, I've tried all kinds of products to help relieve some of the worst symptoms (like panic, palpitations, nausea, etc).
Here are some of my recommendations which you can find on Amazon (and hopefully snag a great price!). Please note I am an Amazon affiliate and as such earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to amazon.com.
To help you sleep better
Magnesium has been a lifesaver for me during anxious and sleepless nights. I specifically take a Magnesium Glycinate supplement at night, about 3 hours before bed. It helps my body relax and stay asleep faster.
For nights when I need extra sleep support I also spray some Magnesium Chloride on my legs and feet. I do this right before getting into bed. 4-6 pumps and I'm knocked out for a few hours. Even if I get up in the middle of the night to use the restroom, I can still go back to sleep with ease. Side note: don't use this on your legs right after shaving! Your legs will sting badly if you do so, as this is essentially salt. You might feel a little tingling otherwise--this is just letting you know your body is absorbing it. Apply a bit of lotion for any further irritation.
To help you feel calmer, and relieve some anxiety
Anxiety symptoms suck! They hurt the body in so many different ways, which is why it's so important to provide it with the tools it needs to support us while we're healing. Here are some supplements that really helped to reduce my anxiety symptoms:
GABA: Don't take my word for it, just read the reviews!
Ashwagandha: An adaptogen which helps your body adapt to stress. I prefer to take it in liquid form.
To support your nervous system
The nervous system is the part of the body that signals how to respond (flight, fight, freeze) to different stressors. The more you can support your nervous system, the smoother it will be to regain control during times of extreme anxiousness.
B-complex: A great combination of B-vitamins which also helps to support your energy levels, and stamina.
Vitamins D3 + K: Most of us are deficient in Vitamin-D, which studies have proven to be linked to anxiety. Make sure to take a great D supplement, along with K for maximum absorption.
To help ease depression
Anxiety and Depression are sisters; where one exists, the other follows. If I wasn't feeling high anxiety, I'd be on the opposite end of the spectrum with deep depression. These supplements helped to boost my mood.
5-HTP: I would take this along with the GABA, and it would also help to elevate my mood and help me sleep better.
St. John's Wort: One of my favorites to give me a happiness boost. In liquid form it works so much quicker for me. Please note you might not be able to take this if you take birth control.
Some other useful tools
These are some other items I carry with me, especially in high stress situations:
Acupressure rings: I don't know how these work, but they work! They are so soothing; within 5-10 minutes of fidgeting with them, I feel so at ease. I carry one everywhere I go.
Sleep aid: I've been carrying these little devices with me since 2021. They are wonderful to help bring a panic attack down. Whenever I am in a high anxiety moment I use this for a few cycles (each cycle is about 20 minutes) and I feel so calm afterwards. These also can help with sleep whenever your mind is extra active.
Please check with a medical practitioner before incorporating any new vitamin or supplement into your health routine. I really hope these items work out for you! Please let me know which are your favorite items for anxiety relief, and feel free to contact me if you're looking for something specific; I may have already tried it!
